MY EXPERIENCE AS A FASHION DESIGNER
I am a graphic designer who has always had an interest for the fashion industry. I was overjoyed when a position in the clothing industry was offered to me, despite not having a degree in fashion design. I had to learn the fundamentals of clothing manufacturing, but I also got to put my graphic design skills to use by developing artwork for the clothing.
I have also gained the following skills through this experience:
I gained knowledge on how to conduct photoshoots as the creative art director.
I was trained to become a commercial designer
I developed my attention to detail.

SKILL AS A CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Conducting photoshoots allowed me to collaborate with a team of people in order to produce good results. After being appointed as the photoshoots' creative director, I had to be able to communicate my ideas to the team I work with. To visualise my ideas, I had to make a detailed moodboard that gave the team a clear visual direction for what the end product should look like. Afterwards, I had to delegate tasks to my teammates to ensure that the photoshoots go off smoothly.
In addition to designing clothing, I also designed accessories.
BECOMING A COMMERCIAL DESIGNER
I need to be able to understand the commercial side of the industry in addition to developing. I learned to look at the "statistics" and to pay attention to what the customer wants. Therefore, the designs I created must succeed in the market once they are released.
ATTENTION TO DETAILS
I gained this particular skill at the moment when I had to make the clothing technical sheets. I had to develop technical sheets with the precise measurements of the garments and the size of the artworks in order to manufacture the clothing. In order for the production to create the proper sample, all garment specification’s details must be mentioned.
